As a long-time lover of all things alien, I couldn’t pass up the chance to see Roswell, the purported site of an alien crash in the 1940’s. I have to say, I expected the town to be decked out in more “alien stuff,” but I had a blast at the International UFO Museum! Granted, it wasn’t quite what I expected, to be honest. There were a lot of displays, mostly reading materials attached to the walls. But the first thing I noticed was the lack of “evidence.” Where were the artifacts? The remnants of the spaceship crash? I was a little bit disappointed with that, but nonetheless, the museum was very cool to walk through. Plus, I would have forever kicked myself in the rear if I had missed the chance to see it.
The highlight of the museum, at least for me, was the spinning spacecraft (left). Periodically (I’m not sure how often, as I didn’t stand there and time it) the craft starts to spin, smoke comes out, colored lights come on, and you’re treated to the sounds of alien language of some sort. I, of course, don’t speak alienese, but that’s my best guess. I think what I took away, though, is a lot of thoughts. Thoughts like “What if there really ARE UFOs and otherworldly beings?” I mean, c’mon. It would be pretty arrogant of me to think that out of the vast universe, out of all the planets out there, we’re the only “intelligent” life. Right?
One theory I saw on a television show recently mentioned the possibility that aliens aren’t actually beings from other planets, but rather us… evolved humans… from the future. I know that at first thought it seems pretty out there, but once you think about it, there is actually some sense in the theory. The show talked about how, because of the sun’s harsh rays and the Earth’s evaporating ozone layer, our eyes will eventually evolve to be larger (I can’t seem to wrap my brain around this one, though. Wouldn’t our eyes evolve to be smaller, to help block out the sun?). The larger heads are supposedly due to intelligence rising (again, though, I have to disagree. If you just sit and watch people for just an hour, you’ll notice that intelligence appears to be lacking in many. I just can’t imagine us getting smarter instead of dumber. Think of that movie “Idiocracy.” I think that’s the way we’re headed, honestly.
Anyway, if you’re ever on a Westward bound road trip, do yourself a favor… go check out the International UFO Museum in Roswell, New Mexico. If nothing else, you can at least say that you did!
So, what do you think? Are there aliens out there, watching us? Perhaps waiting for us to evolve? Or are the aliens really us, from the future?
